GREEK FOOD CATERING IN OTTAWA: A PRACTICAL GUIDE

How much to order, what it costs, how far ahead to book — from a kitchen that has catered this city since 1996.

If you're organising a staff lunch, a birthday, a shower or a memorial reception, the food decision usually comes down to two things: will there be enough of it, and will people actually enjoy eating it. Greek food catering in Ottawa solves both reasonably well — it travels without falling apart, it feeds a mixed crowd, and it doesn't need cutlery gymnastics to eat standing up.

We've been catering across the city since 1996, out of seven kitchens. Here's what we've learned about ordering it well.

HOW MUCH FOOD DO YOU ACTUALLY NEED?

This is the question we get most, and the honest answer is that most people over-order on sides and under-order on protein.

Our combos are portioned per person, so the maths is simple: one order per guest, plus a small buffer. A few practical adjustments:

  • Lunch meetings — order for your headcount exactly. People eat less at midday, especially seated.
  • Evening events — add roughly 10% if the event runs past two hours.
  • Standing receptions — wraps beat platters. People can hold one and still shake a hand.
  • Mixed-age crowds — order to the adult count; children rarely finish a full portion.

Tzatziki is the one thing worth over-ordering. It always runs out first.

WHAT OUR CATERING MENU LOOKS LIKE

Everything is priced per person with a minimum group of ten, and comes in large aluminum containers rather than individual boxes — easier to set out on a table, and less packaging to clear afterward.

  • Souvlaki Combos, $15.50/person — one charbroiled skewer each with roasted potatoes, rice pilaf and tzatziki.
  • Wrap Combos, $15.50/person — the same sides, built around a pita wrap instead.
  • Wrap & Salad, $17.50/person — a wrap with Greek or Caesar salad. The lightest option.
  • Wrap & Fries, $15/person — the crowd-pleaser for younger groups.

Chicken and pork are included; lamb and beef add a small amount per person. Salads, baklava and drinks can be added to any combo. The full breakdown is on our catering page.

Vegetarian guests are worth flagging when you order, not on the day. We can build veggie portions into the count so nobody's left assembling a plate out of side dishes.

WHEN TO ORDER

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice on catering orders. Larger events, or anything during December, deserve more lead time — popular dates fill up.

Two dates fill up faster than people expect: the weeks around office holiday parties, and graduation season in June. If your event falls in either, book early even if the headcount isn't final. Adjusting numbers later is straightforward; finding capacity on short notice in mid-December isn't.

What we need from you

  • Date, time, and delivery address — including buzzer, unit or loading-dock details
  • Guest count, and whether it's likely to move
  • Any allergies or dietary needs, stated clearly rather than in a comment box
  • A phone number someone will actually answer on the day

DELIVERY ACROSS OTTAWA

We cater across the city — downtown offices, Kanata tech campuses, Barrhaven community halls, Orléans family gatherings. With kitchens in seven neighbourhoods, your order is usually prepared close to where it's going, which matters more than people realise: less time in transit means food that arrives hot rather than warm.

Standard catering delivery means we bring the order and its supplies to your delivery point. Setup and staffed service are separate arrangements — mention it when you request a quote if you need them.

A FEW THINGS WORTH KNOWING

  • Book the room before the food. Catering can flex around a venue; a venue rarely flexes around catering.
  • Ask about parking. Downtown deliveries go faster when we know where to stop.
  • Add utensils deliberately. Plates, cutlery and tongs are a small per-person add-on — easy to forget, awkward to be without.
  • Leftovers are a feature. Aluminum containers refrigerate well. Greek food is one of the few caterings people are genuinely happy to take home.

READY TO PLAN IT

Tell us the date, the headcount and the address, and we'll come back with a quote. If you're still deciding, that's fine too — send what you know and we'll help you work out the rest.
