Winter is drawing to an end, which means that spring is on it’s way and so is Spring Break! Do you have big plans for your kids during their March Break? Perhaps you’ve been focused on other things and haven’t given it much thought yet. That’s OK! We have come up with a list of the best March Break activities in Ottawa this year, to keep both you and your kids entertained!

Skiing

What better way to ensure the kids will sleep well at night then by tiring them out with a day on the slopes? Close to Ottawa are Camp Fortune and Mount Pakenham, which are both located less than an hour drive from the city. Mount Pakenham, located in Pakenham, Ontario just west of Ottawa, is offering special programming during the Ontario March Break with 3, 4, or 5 day ski camps. Camp Fortune, located in Chelsea, Quebec, is offering programming during both the Quebec and Ontario March Break with 2-hour lessons for the younger kids and full-day lessons for kids 7 and older.

Maple Syrup Fun

That old Canadian tradition of sugar bushing is a fun way to spend your March Break! Local farms such as Proulx Farm, the Log Farm and Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm are doing special programming for the week, including wagon rides, a petting farm, taffy on the snow and a tasty pancake breakfast or brunch!

A Day at the Museum

One of the benefits of living in the Nation’s Capital is having access to a wide range of world-class museums and art galleries! The Museum of Nature, Museum of History, War Museum, National Art Gallery, and the newly-opened Ottawa Art Gallery are all fantastic places to take your kids this March Break to keep their brains active. Whatever your child’s personal interests, they are bound to find something to to entertain them at one of Ottawa’s cultural institutions.

Escape Rooms

If you’re looking for a fun family activity that will test your brainpower and problem-solving abilities, then check out one of Ottawa’s escape rooms! Escape Manor Junior offers a fun and immersive escape room experience for a younger audience. Captive Kids is the first escape room adventure created specifically for children and families. Bonus: older kids may be able to go in the room themselves, leaving you free for 45 minutes to relax and grab a coffee!

Animal Madness

Do your kids love animals? There are plenty of things to do around Ottawa this March Break to give them a chance to interact with our furry and feathered friends. Right here in Ottawa is Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo, a zoo and nature centre where children can learn all about endangered species in Canada. The zoo is home to over 150 different types of animal, reptiles, insects and birds, providing both a fun and educational experience for the whole family!

Omega Park is a 45 minute drive away from Ottawa, towards Montebello, Quebec. This large safari park is home to deer, elk, bison, caribou and wolves, who are able to roam free in their natural habitat. During March Break, the park is offering additional demonstrations and displays including chainsaw wood carving, wagon rides, a sugar shack, and musicians!

Running around and keeping the kids entertained all March Break may leave you feeling wiped at the end of the day with no energy to cook dinner. That’s where Greek on Wheels has you covered! We have a range of tasty dinner options, including delicious family platters, to please even the pickiest of eaters and leave your family feeling full and satisfied. Even better – we deliver across Ottawa! Take a look at our menu and give us a call today.
